Career & Education Planning
At an increasing young age, a student is asked to make choices about academic programs which influence their career potential. Students and their families struggle with these decisions, and schools no longer have the resources to provide the counselling necessary to reach optimal decisions in this vital area.
Personalized career and educational planning helps a student to acquire relevant information, and connects their interests and strengths with career goals. During individual meetings between the student and the counsellor, a trusting relationship is fostered, and a career and educational plan is developed.
Annette works with a student to identify and work towards their career goals. Working collaboratively with their family, solutions are devised that can orient the student’s activities and efforts in a particular direction, thereby impacting their life in a positive and productive manner.
Typical activities include:- Use of the gold standard of career tests, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.
- Discussions around skills, abilities and strengths.
- Identification of post-secondary programs and related schools.
- Information on potential careers and career trends.
- Personal statements for professional school programs and preparation for the resulting interviews.
