Academic Performance Coaching
Academic performance coaching differs from tutoring in that it is not subject specific, but develops personal strategies to achieve a student’s academic potential. Working with individual students, their strengths and weaknesses are identified, and a personalized plan that addresses short-term and long-term goals is devised.
Typical concerns addressed include:- Organization: organizing notes, assignment and study schedules and a study space in the home.
- Effective reading strategies: what, where, when and how to read.
- Note taking: learning what to write down, having a system to take notes and a method to utilize the information after class.
- Time management, procrastination, confidence and motivation.
- Studying: what, when, and how to study.
- Strategies for taking tests: managing anxiety and stress.
- Writing Effectively: breaking down assignments and learning to research.
